Facilities

There are now 20 buildings on the 7 acre site. We are constantly improving our facilities to create a safe and welcoming environment, giving support and care to all in need. Here you can find a bit more about the facilities we offer.

Inpatient Wards

Klibur Domin has 70+ beds. Two wards are for low care patients referred from the Dili National Hospital and District Health Clinics. The patients may be suffering from malnutrition, malaria, strokes, fractures, wounds, tuberculosis and some are receiving pre and post surgery care.

MDR-TB Wards

The first building was complete in 2011 with funding from Eli Lilly Australia (a drug and medical supply company). The Ward has four bedrooms, each with an attached bathroom and toilet, a dining room and a room for office work and medical storage. A second MDR-TB ward was completed in 2018. Klibur Domin is the only MDR-TB facility in Timor-Leste.

Rehabilitation Centre

This facility is housed in an existing building which was renovated in 2009 to be used for physiotherapy and occupational therapy. It is equipped with rehabilitation equipment, wheelchairs and mobility aids from Australia.

Barbara’s House

This building was also completed in 2011, and is home to the four remaining aged residents who remain from during Indonesian time when this facility was used as an aged care facility. Barbara’s House has 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms (with flushing toilets), a lounge/dining area and one small storage.
St Damien’s Respite Centre
This facility (completed in 2011) has 12 beds and provides intensive therapy, good nutrition, rest and recuperation for people, especially children, with disabilities who are supported by the CBR program. Some of the children attend a local school while they are at St Damien’s.

Clinic

Over here the inpatients are checked and treated for minors wounds, cuts and administered medication.

Office and Laboratory

The office offers space for work desk, and accommodates also two bedrooms. The laboratory houses one of the few GeneXpert machines in Timor-Leste, necessary for the rapid and accurate case detection of TB.

Dental Clinic 

This facility can be used by any of the patients in house, providing treatment and prevention. The service is provided free of charge for any Timorese seeking dental care.

Administration offices

The main buildings accommodate the administration offices, space for meetings, finance, communication.

Vegetable gardens

This area has been created to assist KD to become more self-sustaining by growing our own fruits and vegetables. The residents are encouraged to help care for the gardens.

Volunteers Houses

These houses accommodate up to 16 volunteers.
Since 2000, many volunteers from all over the world, particular from Rotary Clubs in Australia, have assisted in renovating these buildings and constructing new ones.

Common areas

We have  large areas where the inpatients can walk, play games, and have  spaces for interacting with each other
